It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of accomplished hotelier and East African Safari Classic Rally chairman, Jaideep Singh (JS) Vohra, following a road traffic accident earlier today. JS was travelling in a car with several others at the time of the accident. There were no other fatalities.
Through the passing of JS, we have lost a dear friend and colleague and the African rallying community has lost a passionate rally enthusiast. Though we are all in shock at the news, of one thing there is absolutely no doubt: the rally will continue.
“We believe that JS would want the East African Safari Classic Rally to go on, and we as organisers believe the 2017 event should continue in his memory,” said Safari Classic Rally Clerk of Course, Richard Leeke. “Our deepest condolences go to his family and friends.”
A more fitting tribute to JS Vohra will be published in time, but for now we salute this unique and much-loved individual. Rest in peace, JS: you will always be with us in spirit.
