We regret to confirm that the Mini Classic Rally Powered By Safaricom 4G+ that was to be held in August 2018 has been postponed – more details in Bulletin no. 1. Organised as a tribute to the late JS Vohra, the rally will go ahead in due course and the revised program will be shared once the safety concerns have been put to rest. Clerk of Course, Raju Chaggar, explains more:
“The issue of concern is on day one of this rally, where several sections of the road on all three stages were completely washed away in the heavy rains experienced a few months ago. We were hopeful that, by the time we carried out our third reconnaissance, roadworks or at least emergency repairs would have been completed. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. With only a few weeks to the rally, the consensus amongst the organisers is that it is now virtually impossible to complete the repairs.
“Running the first day’s stages would place our competitors in danger, while not running day one would have proved frustrating for everyone. All measures and mitigations have been considered and we have also exhausted all feasible alternative options within the time available. In conclusion, the rally shall not meet the set requirements of Appendix H of the FIA International Sporting Code.
“Therefore we have postponed the rally and are working on a revised programme, which will be shared once the repaired route has been surveyed and declared safe by the Clerk of Course. Entry fees will be carried forward and donated to a charity nominated by the Vohra family.”
We would like to thank all officials and competitors for the time and effort they have put in the preparations for this event. Once we release the revised program, all the teams and arrangements will remain the same and we request everyone to remain part of the team. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank everyone for their assistance.
