DAY THREE -
TUESDAY : NEWSFLASH 11:15
After the first section this morning,
Gerard Marcy still led the Kenya Airways East African Safari Classic Rally
2007 with his Porsche 911. He did fastest time on the section and had
widened his lead over Bjorn Waldegård in the Ford Escort by another
half a minute. But then on the second section, he struck as yet unidentified
problem and lost more than ten minutes to Waldegård. He still holds
second place.
Waldegård's co-driver, his
son Mathias, bruised his back after the Escort had done a massive jump
on the first section and needed attention at the ensuing service.
Graham Alexander had a slow time
in the second stage with his Datsun 260Z and now lies eighth with Geoff
Fielding now fifth and John Lloyd sixth in Porsche 911 and Datsun 240Z
respectively..
Principal retirement this morning
is the Datsun 260Z of local driver, Stefano Rocca who rolled in the first
section and damaged the roll cage too badly to continue. Neither of the
crew is injured. Leading local crew is now Ian Duncan who has inherited
Rocca's seventh place overall with his Ford Mustang.
