KAUGI AND MBURU ENTER KQ CLASSIC SAFARI

Robert Kaugi and Willie Mburu have entered the 2007 Kenya Airways Safari Classic Rally scheduled for later this year and will drive a Toyota Corolla built in 1971.

Michael Okwiri, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs of Kenya Airways expressed delight at the receipt of the first all African crew in the rally. Kaugi and Mburu have both participated in the 2003 event in a Ford Capri and the 2005 event in a Datsun 1600SSS with finishes in both rallies.

"It will be a very tough event in 2007 but we are ready for the challenge" said Kaugi at the officies of the KQ Classic Rally in Riverside Drive.

Their entry now is the 58th entry for this 4300km grueling Safari around Kenya and Tanzania. The event will trace the classic sections that have been used since the Cornation Safari's inception in 1953 like the Taita Hills and Usambara Mountians in Tanzania.

The recent rains have made the roads very tough to negotiate and on a recent route survey the Clerk of Course spend 6 hours stuck in mud. Hopefully the weather will change and it will become dry by the time of the event.
