RALLY
Former Safari Rally winner and multiple
Kenya National Rally champion, Ian Duncan has entered the Kenya Airways
East African Safari Classic Rally.
Driving a powerful 5 litre engine
Ford Mustang he will be navigated by his regular co-driver Amaar Slatch.
The 1967 model Ford Mustang is currently being prepared at his Karen workshops.
During the 2005 event Ian Duncan
made an amazing recovery after electric problems in the first section
and set fastest time through the famous Usambara Mountains before crashing
out in spectacular style near Moshi in Tanzania.
Ian Duncan who won the Safari Rally
in 1994 when it was a round of the World Rally Championship will join
52 other crews who have entered so far on this the "World Greatest
Classic Car Rally". The event will cover a marathon 4300 kilometres
taking the crews through the remote and beautiful landscapes of Kenya
and Tanzania from 25th November to 3rd December 2007.
"I am really looking forward
to driving the Ford Mustang which will be very different to the Escort
I drove in 2005, It should give me all the things I love in rallying in
one event" said the four times Kenya rally champion.
The 2007 Kenya Airways East African
Safari Classic rally has been scheduled outside the international rally
calendar to give an opportunity for international and local media coverage
to be at its maximum.
