" ... a Porsche starts uncontrolled swimming if you drive to fast through deep water!"

Thanks for your message and once more a big Congratulation and thanks to you and your Team for a wonderful event.
Knowing my own input and preparation for the Rally, you must have done some miracles to get all the logistics working.
Great Job!

My own Story of the event can be followed on the following webpage, which gives as well a link to the EASR Homepage:

www.Historicrallydriver.com

In there you can log into a lot of pictures which I took with my digital Camera during the event.
All my own preparations for the event have been written down very well by Hayley Maxfield. She wrote an Article in the September issue of "travel news & lifestyle" magazine: "Celebrating Africa". Your Official Programme gives as well my rally background.

To give my own story of the event could fill a complete book. We are working on it. My wife Marlies who followed the event took daily records. We want to match that with all other stories we got and the many pictures we took. This will take some time and will give us a lot of wonderful memories.

In short: I have not expected that it will be so tough. Although we did a lot of guesswork in our preparation we did two major misjudgements: We took to many tyres along (30), we used 12 only which includes 3 punctures.

We did not have enough shock absorbers or used wrong once. I changed 11 pcs (10 at the rear). We brought 6 spares only so we were running out of stock! That was almost a nightmare. Thanks to the knowledge and organising talent of our 2 local Service crew, Bobby and Bob of PAC Motorsport in Nairobi, we got some spares which did not fit to well in the Porsche but somehow we managed. So at the end I was driving some 150 km special stage with broken shocks... what an experience!

Another experience: I did not recognise that a Porsche starts uncontrolled swimming if you drive to fast through deep water! That happened to us in Uganda... see picture on our webpage!

Could continue......

We are happy to have finished the event under the top 10! Its may be to early now to ask when will be the next one? Be assured we are ready to join and do it again!

Best regards to all of you
